Welcome to Green Room
Classroom News
Welcome to our first full week of school! Each Monday, we will send out an email with our weekly work plans, along with any reminders, updates, or checklists of things that need to be completed. Occasionally, you may hear from us more than once during the week as things come up. First, thank you so much for your generosity in celebrating Mrs. Thomas’ birthday today! We were able to spoil her with an amazing coffee gift basket, and she definitely felt the love. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us make her day special!
Work Plans & Mustang Time
Right now, our work plans are still fairly generic. Once we finish our IXL diagnostics and other beginning-of-the-year assessments, some students will be shifted into Advanced Math and/or Advanced ELA courses. Beginning next week, you will start to see more individualization in the work plans, as well as the beginning of our literature groups.
This week, students are also learning how to use Mustang Time effectively. We are asking them to look at their work plan, prioritize their responsibilities, and choose three main things to tackle during that time. If those three things aren't finished at school, they provide a great starting point for what students should work on at home that evening. Our goal is to help students gradually develop the time-management and organizational skills they will need to be successful in middle school and beyond.
Being Leaders on Campus
Mrs. Garcia came into class today to talk with all of our students about an important part of being in Green Room: they are leaders on our campus. Our younger students look up to our middle schoolers, which means we expect our Green Room students to model appropriate behavior, follow school rules, and set a positive example. This includes uniform compliance. Please ask your son or daughter about the conversation that was had today. We are asking families to make sure that by Monday of next week, all Green Room students are in full uniform compliance.
We know our students are capable of being the leaders our younger Mustangs look up to, and we appreciate your help reinforcing those expectations at home.
