Parent Participation
In addition to the classes, parents share in the life of the student by attending parent-teacher conferences, open houses, and program meetings. Classroom observations and discussions with teachers further involve parents in their child's experience at school.
MMCA has a parent participation program where parents volunteer 40 hours per year. Parents volunteer in many ways including parent work days, service on our Board of Directors, volunteering at social functions throughout the year and helping in the classroom.
Types of Volunteering Jobs
Room Parents Room parents organize and attend classroom parties (about 5 per year).
Assign parents to items to contribute (food and projects).
Contact classroom parents when needed.
Have fun with your child and their friends on a festive occasion.
Cooking Parents - Help "cook" with the kids on Friday mornings.
Homework and Envelope Organizer Weekly - Friday mornings copy and sort paperwork into homework folders for students to take
home Friday afternoon .
Monthly decorating of bulletin board
Library Resource - One time per month
Morning Classroom - Help Bi-monthly from 8:30am to 10am.
Garden Docent - Bi-monthly 12:30pm to 1:30pm - you pick the day
Fresh Flowers - Bring fresh flowers on Monday morning for our classroom.
Window washing is a monthly task you pick the day.
Shelve Cleaning is a monthly task you pick the day.
Photographer - Capture the kids at "work" for Year book pictures and at events.
Book Fair - October 2022 & May 2023: Help with set up/take down & selling of books
Auction Item Creation - Help children in the classroom with making an item for auction. Attend informational meeting in the PM.
Wash Cups - Take home the drinking cups on Friday and return on Monday.
Hand Writing Parent - Once a week
Sharpen pencils - This needs to be done often.
Make Playdough - This needs to be done bi-weekly. Easy to do.
Holidays with Clover - Take the turtle home over the long weekends and vacations. Two sessions Winter and Spring.
Make/Purchase Bubbles and Chalk Supply when needed.
Dirty Laundry - Take home dirty laundry on Friday and return on Monday.
