Celebration of Life/Birthdays

The Celebration of Life is done in a  circle.  A candle is lit to represent the sun and the child will walk around the sun holding the globe to represent their years traveled around the sun.

We also ask that students create a Personal Timeline to share on their birthday.  Please see the assignment below:

The assignment should be completed the first month of school and the teachers will keep it until your child's birthday.

What is a timeline?

• A timeline is a way to list important events.  These events must be put in chronological order (the order in which they happened).

 

The Assignment

 

Your task is to create a timeline to display the important events in your life.  This assignment will be completed both at home and at school.  Please be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

 

Homework

 

• With your parents’ permission, collect or draw pictures to support the event added to your timeline.  (Please understand that these pictures will be taped/glued to your timelines and therefore may not be returned).

• Talk to your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or siblings about important events in your life.  Complete the attached information sheet with the help of your family.
