Our classroom management system is simple: We use a clip chart in our classroom as a form of classroom management to manage student activities after they learn our classroom expectations.  We do not make the clip chart the primary focus of our classroom throughout the day. Each student has their name on a clothespin and as the day progresses; your child may be asked to move their clip up or down depending on if they are following our classroom rules. Students will generally remain on "ready to learn" which is great! They may be asked to move their clip up for going “above and beyond,” by following our class rules consistently and being a good role model for their peers.   We discuss classroom expectations and classroom rules on a daily basis.  This includes weekly role playing activities to show how or why their choices can affect their learning or their peers learning.  More importantly, we discuss how they can keep their classmates and them self-safe!  This is our #1 priority in the classroom!  If a student has moved their clip down more than a few times and has reached "parent contact," then parents will receive an email, note home or we may discuss it with you after school. We will generally discuss the rule(s) they did not follow and/or what they can do differently next time.

 The purpose of the classroom management plan is to 1.  Hold student’s accountable.  2.  Protect every student’s right to learn.  The clip chart is not the primary focus of our classroom, but all students want to do well and want to share what color they were on.  Instead of that being the primary focus, I would instead ask questions as to why they had a great day or rough day.  You can discuss some strategies to help them next time, if you think this will help them to be more successful at school.  Ask questions about some positive things that they did and activities or jobs they may have done at school.  Our weekly schedule will help you with some reminders for your child.  Your interest in their day is also important and will keep the communication open between you and them.  Please see our rules stated below so you can discuss these with your child:
