Welcome to Green Room

Classroom News

  • Welcome to the beginning of the 2nd Trimester. Right now your child sits at a 100% in all classes. It is up to them if they want to stay up in that range or drop points for not doing assignments. At the beginning of the trimester, if they miss an assignment it looks rather daunting on the overall grade since there are so few assignments in the grade book.

  •

  • We are also starting a new round of special rotations this Friday. Your child will be placed into a new rotation of either Spanish Vocabulary, ASL< Coding, or Spanish Culture & Speaking.

  •

  • Today your child was given a permission slip for our next field trip: IMAX. It is a double feature, and students will be given popcorn and soda for the shows. If you would like to drive, please get your slips turned in and make sure all of your driver information is up to date in the office. If you would like to stay and watch the double feature with us, you will need to include $16 with the field trip permission slip.

  • On another note, math is looking a little different to start off this trimester. Mrs. Boothby noticed that some kids weren't getting their assignments done at home, and some were not using their time in class or Mustang time as efficiently as they could have and it seemed to affect their overall grade last trimester. She is wanting to help build better work habits with the students, so the work has been broken up slightly. The two things that are automatic homework are technology based: IXL topics and Math Facts. That leaves them more in class time to do the foldables, task cards, group work, and assignments. They will also have Mustang time to work on the assignments. If they haven't finished their at school math job by the end of mustang time, she collects the work and gives it back to them the next day. This is being done for a multitude of reasons, but it is trying to cut down on the lack of work completion, the rise in the use of AI at home to do the work, and some kids just putting it off and then not doing well on their tests due to lack of practice. It was a bit of an adjustment today and some kids realized they talked too much in class or goofed on in Mustang time and have more work to do tomorrow. We will be doing this process through the month of January to help build better work habits. We will re-evaluate at that time and adjust as needed.

  • And finally, we have our Garden work day on Monday the 17th right after school. The more people we have show up, the faster we can get the work list done. And, we are willing to DOUBLE your volunteer hours. Give an hour, get credit for TWO! It is a WIN WIN. Since we have 55 students in Green Room, we'd really like to have around 15-20 families represented.
