When at school, your student should be following this model. When we have lesson time, we expect all students to follow these three simple guidelines as well. Our classroom is independent, cooperative, and project centered. Students will be expected to work independently on abstract assignments, cooperate in small group settings and participate in large group activities as well.
Homework
In the middle school setting, homework is whatever work is not completed in class. Math homework is due the next school day. Science, Language Arts and History homework are due AT THE LATEST on Thursday afternoon. Students will be expected to use their weekly planner to keep track of assignments and due dates.
While we can be flexible in extraordinary circumstances, we would like to remind students that extra curricular activities; sports, scouts, youth groups, music lessons, etc. are not excuses for incomplete homework. Students who do not complete homework will be expected to stay in at recess until the work is completed. Incomplete homework makes it difficult for students to keep up with new concepts and lessons and will be reflected in their grade.
